The Dark

I'm excited to be playing the part of Daniel Abbott/The Dark in an upcoming motion comic book of sorts. It will be of the first issue of the upcoming miniseries by writer, Chris Lynch and art by Rick Lundeen. Markosia out of the UK apparently thought enough of the idea to publish it. So, congratulations to them! Terry Cooper is producing the audio comic version.

Here is a trailer for issue 1...

I, by the way, have to get working on those recordings over the next several days...

Gypsy Audio

I am officially on the thespian roster at Gypsy Audio. w00t!

I haven't worked with them yet, but I do have the upcoming role in 'Giselle' at Imagination Lane, which Gypsy Audio is a spin off from. So that's close!

I'm looking forward to working on an upcoming Soap Opera of sorts, with some twists....

Untold:Alliance

I will be playing the roles of two separate characters in Untold:Alliance. One, a fairly normal kind of guy named Koel, the other, a nasty demon. It's for Paeter at Spiritblade, and continues with the christian, good and evil theme.

Actually, my lines are in, and apart from any necessary retakes, which there may be, we're all set!

Mad Love

I took my first little fun whack at that crown prince of crime, the Joker. It's a machinima mini-movie called 'Mad Love', and I couldn't resist auditioning. It's something a little different I'd say, as I didn't want to really do the Mark Hamill style, though there is a touch of it, and possibly a small pinch of Cesar Romero in one laugh. 'twas fun.

The trailer is here.

The full release can be seen here or here.

CTR-ALT

I'll be playing the part of Toby Walker in first time production by VAA user, Emberwolf. Toby plays it rather low key, so this is a sort of nice, calm role. So far anyway...

The pilot should be out in a couple months or so I'd say.

Coming Soon...

A couple things should be popping up sometime soon. Quite awhile ago I was involved with some VAA projects that have yet to be released. One of them Treasure Hunters, by VAA member, Menchi. My recordings have long been turned in, and I expect for that to come around soon. I'm looking forward to see how that turns out, as I had a lot of fun with the role.

Another item I'm waiting for is a 3 part production of Steel Magnolias, produced by VAA member, Josh Click. I'm the only dude in the show, playing a Louisiana Disc Jockey, another fun little bit. I haven't recorded yet, as the character doesn't appear till the third and final installment.

Night At The Ballet - ep 2 - Giselle

First time working with, and first time audition for Alexa Chipman and Imagination Lane. I am thrilled. Ep 2 - Giselle will be released sometime in October, I do believe. My recordings for Prince Albrecht are in, and everything is set.

Now, I'll admit, I'm not exactly a ballet kind of guy. The story synopsis grabbed me.

But what this series is, are adaptations of ballets for audio. And after listening to the 1st episode, it really works. I particularely like the upcoming ep (No surprise, huh?). I think anyone can enjoy it, really. Alexa is just amazing over there at Imagination Lane.

Darker Projects - Night Terrors - The Choice

This was my second time auditioning over at Darker Projects. The first was way back with that dreaded mic (At least, I hope it was the mic..hehe..). That first one went nowhere.

Here however, I play a scummy rapist, yuck, in an episode of their horror/suspense anthology, Night Terrors - episode 15: The Choice.

That, and others in the series can be found here.

Not for younger ears, considering the content.

Frequency Of Fear

Wild, whacky, slapstick horror/sci fi tales from Zombie Astronaut. The award winning Zombie Astronaut. 3 out of 5 uni awards out of the Sonic Society! And the show sometimes gets a spin on Canadian Radio by Jack and Shannon.

The roles I have played to date on Frequency Of Fear...

Grocery store manager
Officer/Zombie officer
Cuthroat Carl
The Disco Wizard
Dirk
80's guy
A caveman
Some 70's far out kinda guy victim

There are two versions of Frequency. One, Zombie's original material is wrapped around horror and sci-fi OTR. The second version is 'lite', meaning just the original stuff, and not OTR. So to each their own. But who doesn't like OTR?

Frequency is here.

Frequency Lite can be heard here.

Final Heroes

Here, I play the role of Donald Stryker. This is a story from the mind of creator, Hieu Le Bui. All my recordings are in the can, as they say. The Final Heroes: Episode 1 DVD can be purchased at Amazon.com

Amazon - Final Heroes:Episode 1

Here is a promo vid for it...

You can visit Hieu Le Bui's evolving website here.

I'm happy to be working with him on various projects!

Brotherhood Of Shadow: Solomon's Revenge

Probably the toughest project I've worked on to date. It's a video game mod for Knight's Of The Old Republic, and an epic one at that. Meaning, lots and lots of lines because the player's decisions bring up different dialogue options. There were of course retakes of things mispronounced, or not matching in-game text dialogue, but the modder, Silveredge9 was very, very helpful in communication of what he wanted.

I was cast as Darius Solomon, Sith Chastiser, Dark Jedi, Mandalore the Ultimate, and Republic Captain.

With or without me, it is a very hot mod for Knights. You can read about the mod itself in the Solomon's Revenge thread on LucasForums here.

You can also check out the modder's page here.

Dc 'Verse

I will be a part of this fan produced Youtube series, playing the parts of Brainiac, Batman, and Toyman. Perhaps another one or two down the road, as there will be a giant JSA extravaganza, including the vast assortment of rogue baddies.

I stumbled onto Matt's Youtube page sometime back, and thought this would be a fun one. To my recollection, I hadn't done any super hero related stuff to this point. And with so many villains to choose from, oh boy! Let's face it, the nasties are almost always the most fun to play!

In the trailer, the voice you hear is that of the Eradicator. He's really got a bone to pick with Brainiac. And Brian Tubbs playing Superman is a perfect fit!

I'm not too up to speed on the current generation of characters, as my knowledge is basically planted in the 80's and prior. That doesn't mean I can't have fun with it!

Matt was kind enough to interview me a week or so ago at Blogtalk Radio on Talk Geek. That's a first for me. There is my interview, sandwiched between his interviews of Jennifer Hale - a top shelf voice actress in the biz today, Louis Febre - Smallville television series composer, and Mark Hamill. Uh, yes, Mark Hamill. What a geek that Mark guy. But, he'd be the first to tell you that. He knows what goes on in the DC universe. I was always more of a Marvel guy, but Matt and myself get along just fine despite that.

I didn't promote anything I've done in the interview, aside from the Knights Of The Old Republic mod I voiced, which was within the context of Jennifer Hale, in my own little world way.

But, here is the teaser trailer for Superman:Insurrection, which is I guess you'd call a dub with original story, dialogue, and music. The original music by Youtube user byte19 will really spice it up, too.

Pet Peeves

Ok, everyone has these. I have to say though, I am very tolerant in the voice acting realm. I figure everyone has theirs, and for all I know, I may be somebody's pet peeve. Some people complain about everything for some reason or other. I'm not there at this point, but here's one...

This is the worst for me. When someone casts you, you got the role, but then they say if someone comes along that better fits the role, they will cast them instead. "That's how they work". This is mentioned after you'd been casted, mind you. I'm sorry, I'll put up with a lot, but that is just being a doormat. I don't like that. For the right price of course, I'll be a doormat. Under normal circumstances, forget it. This happened to me long ago, and I didn't appreciate it. It was a minor dub thing, back when I was less picky about what I auditioned for. But really, nothing against fan dubs, especially if the topic interests me, but usually if it's a dub for a known character I have no clue about, and am supposed to have a similar voice, I don't know that I'm all that comfortable doing them.

I know a show being cancelled can rub people wrong, especially after they've turned in a good amount of recording for the production. That's happened to me a couple of times, but it's nothing major. Sometimes they came back after cancellation, and eventually got released. I can understand cancellations, because the person cancelling may very well have a good reason for it we can't understand or relate to. For me personally, I may be ticked off for awhile, but in the end, oh well. I do understand however, why people would get hot over it. There are literally only so many hours in a day afterall.

As for dubs, I generally don't do them. I prefer the audio realm typically, unless the subject of video interests me in some way. Now, when someone e-mails me and asks if I would audition, or play a part in their dub due to hearing me elsewhere, or through a recommendation, I may do it. Afterall, I'm flattered that one, I was recommended, and two, someone was interested in my voice. So, unless it's a long demanding project that doesn't interest me, I may say yes out of pure humbleness.

Other than that, I'll turn something down because I have too much on the plate at the moment, and/or other things going on not allowing for me to focus on voice acting.

For the very most part, I've worked with great people.

Circus 13

I was off the scene for awhile, then I auditioned for A Circus 13 Production, and that was still with my lousy mic. I assured the producer that I would have a nice new mic for any further recordings. Again, I was fortunate to be casted in that scenario. I play the part of David Darrow in Wolfman Journals. The recordings were turned in a long, long time ago, and eventually that show will be released. Timm Gillick is a very, very busy man! I'm looking forward to it.

Moving On

And from here, any semblance of an accurate timeline is out the window. My memory simply will not cooperate with that, and I'm typically not a journal keeper. Sadly, I'll more than likely forget some of my first tidbit roles, too. I'll briefly summarize what I've worked on here on out, and maybe brief posts on items I audition for.

Oh, and I do have the itch to produce something, and right now me and another person are in the very early, idea swirling development stage of something or other. We'll see where that goes down the road.

Onward to other things with this oh so creatively titled blog!

First Audio Drama

Star Wars Omega Squad: Targets was my very first venture as a voice actor, in which the show eventually became a reality. At the time, I was dealing with a mic that was either 5 dollars, or 8, I don't remember. But it was cheeeaap and very, very noisy. Of course, that didn't stop me from trying something I wanted to do. I've always enjoyed acting in some sense, as I did all the high school theater stuff, and a little after that. Quit that for good, until it hit me how much I like OTR, and audio drama in general. I discovered the comeback of audio drama on the net, and wanted to be a part. It beats the dress rehearsals, line memorization, costumes, and all that stuff. That just wasn't for me anymore.

Another thing, I've always been one of those people who would talk in various voices out of the blue, even to myself. Odd? Maybe, but at least their is a legit outlet for it now. So, now I'm a voice actor, not a lunatic. Neighbors may think otherwise, especially with those loud, cartoonish roles.

Back to Omega Squad. I auditioned for a few roles, and at the time didn't think much about the mic problem, but it later occured to me. That doesn't mean I would have gotten a bigger role with the greatest mic in the world, just that I realised it was a problem. I wasn't getting anywhere with a few other various auditions. The producer of Omega Squad:Targets, Dany Pepin, e-mailed me after the auditions, and asked me if I could do a Mon Calamari kind of voice. I thought I could do a very passable one, and sent it along. And, that was me, Senator Till. One line... maybe 2? I'd have to check again. In any event, it was used in a very creative way, terrible mic and all. It was obviously very kind of him to give me a role in the first place, and that's one I'll never forget.
